The IAMSE AI in Health Professions Education Monthly Conversations is the open monthly forum of the IAMSE AI in Health Professions Education Committee. Each session brings individuals together to share how they are using artificial intelligence in teaching, assessment, curriculum, and scholarship, and to work through the questions AI raises for our field.
Format
Sessions meet on the first Wednesday of each month, 12:00 to 1:00 PM Eastern, on Zoom. The format rotates to keep the program varied and member-driven:
- Member presentations on applications, pilots, and lessons learned
- Journal clubs on emerging literature at the intersection of AI and education
- Facilitated discussions on questions members bring to the group
Sessions are conversation-forward rather than lecture-style. Come with something you have tried, a question, or a problem you are working on.
Who should attend
All IAMSE members and non-members are welcome, at any level of AI experience. No application, no prerequisite, and no expectation of prior expertise. Participants exploring these tools for the first time are as welcome as those who have been building with them for years.
Continuity with the AI Community of Growth
The Monthly Conversations grew out of the IAMSE AI Community of Growth, which has met monthly for three years and now includes more than 200 members. Current participants remain on the listserv and need to take no action to continue. Leadership, format, and the community’s open character remain unchanged. What is new is IAMSE’s full support.
Recordings
Sessions are recorded and archived so that members in other time zones, or with conflicts, can access them well beyond the live hour.

The Monthly Conversations are one of several IAMSE AI in HPE offerings coordinated by the Committee, alongside the AI Learning Collaboratives, small year-long groups organized around specific topics; the AI Tool Workshops, 90-minute hands-on sessions focused on using a given tool; and the AI Exchange at the IAMSE Café.
