Why Critical Thinking is Essential to the Health Care Professions

Session Description: Critical thinking is required for teaching, learning and practice within the health care professions, since all these processes require skilled reasoning and the embodiment of intellectual and ethical virtues. In this interactive presentation, Dr. Elder will briefly introduce the foundations of critical thinking as well as how to better incorporate these foundations within medical education. The problems of bias and misinformation within medical education will be briefly addressed, as well as the evolving role of artificial intelligence in education and healthcare, all in connection with a robust critical thinking framework.
