IAMSE Communities of Growth (CoGs) are ongoing groups of like-minded individuals who want to informally get together to connect over an area or topic of interest. The AI CoG, Nutrition and Health Promotion CoG, and CORE CoG will be meeting this month. Below are the details for each meeting.
AI CoG
The AI CoG meeting on Zoom will take place on Wednesday, September 2, 2026,at 12:00 PM EDT. IAMSE AI CoG meetings take place regularly at 12:00 PM EDT on the first Wednesday of each month. For information on how to join the AI CoG, email Steve Garwood at garwoods@rowan.edu.
On Wednesday, September 2, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM EDT, the AI Community of Growth (CoG) will meet for a presentation of “Beyond Chatbots: Evaluating AI for Clinical Diagnostics,” presented by Milan Toma, PhD, SMIEEE, Associate Professor of Algorithmic Medicine, Dept. of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM).

Nutrition and Health Promotion CoG
The Nutrition and Health Promotion CoG meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 12:00 PM EDT. For more information on the Nutrition and Health Promotion CoG and how to join, contact CoG leaders Jana Simmons (simmjana@msu.edu) or Kearney Gunsalas (gunsalus@uga.edu).
The Nutrition and Health Promotion CoG will meet on September 8 at 12:00 PM EDT. This represents a new regular meeting time for this CoG on the second Tuesday of each month at 12:00 PM Eastern time. This month, we will be discussing the recent paper, “Transforming Medical Education Through Competency-Based Weight Bias Training: The Weight of Words Model” (open access). We encourage you to review the article in advance, but that is not necessary to attend and participate in the discussion!

CORE CoG
The Community Outreach, Research, and Engagement (CORE) CoG meeting will take place on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM EDT. CORE CoG meetings take place regularly every other month on either Monday or Thursday at 11:00 AM EDT or 3:00 PM EDT.
Dates and times may vary. The CORE CoG is led by Peter Vollbrecht (peter.vollbrecht@wmed.edu) and Natascha Heise (heisen@evms.edu).
At this meeting, the CORE CoG will have a Works-in-Progress discussion.
