Significant Developments in the History of IAMSE - 2001

Six Administrative Standing Committees are created and staffed by IAMSE members. Their purpose is to facilitate progress carrying out the mission of the Association. 

bullet

Mayo Clinic hosts the 2001 Fifth Annual Association Meeting in Rochester, Minnesota. Representatives from 143 medical institutions of 30 countries, plus the Association of American Medical Colleges and the U.S. National Board of Medical Examiners participate.

Arrangements are concluded for the 2002 Sixth Annual Association Meeting to be hosted and joint-sponsored by the School of Medicine, Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. This will be our first meeting outside of the United States.

Selections are made from an extended list of volunteer institutions for hosting the 2003 Seventh (Georgetown University School of Medicine) and 2004 Eighth (Tulane University School of Medicine) Annual Association Meetings. 

bullet

Contract is signed with Swidler, Berlin, Shereff, and Friedman law firm in Washington DC to provide legal counsel for IAMSE. 

bullet

Dr. Roger Koment resigns as President to accept the position of Executive Director, Dr. Aviad Haramati (Vice President) becomes the President of IAMSE. 

bullet

Dr. Giulia Bonaminio (University of Kansas School of Medicine) is appointed as Vice President of IAMSE. 

bullet

Conversion of the Basic Science Educator to an electronic journal is completed and back issues begun to be posted. 

bullet

Membership in IAMSE increases to be represented by 48 countries
