Significant Developments in the History of IAMSE - 2000

Dr. Adi Haramati (Georgetown University School of Medicine) is appointed the first Vice President of IAMSE. 

bullet

A system is developed to provide e-mail broadcasts three to four times per month to both Members and Friends of IAMSE regarding developments within IAMSE, events, and professional opportunities in medical science education. 

bullet

Work begins on developing a long-range Strategic Plan. Board members travel to IAMSE Administrative Headquarters in Springfield, Virginia to hold their first Retreat. 

bullet

A Nominating Committee is convened which selects and screens candidates for the first IAMSE election; 13 members of the Board of Directors are officially voted into office. 

bullet

A Teleconference Bridge Service is leased for the conduct of IAMSE business and complimentary usage extended to members as another benefit of membership. 

bullet

The decision is made that IAMSE Biennial (thematic) Conferences will now become Annual Association Meetings. This will provide greater lattitude for interaction between members and become the mainstay of our associations. Individual thematic or regional conferences may be planned as need and opportunities arise. 

bullet

Membership in IAMSE increases to be represented by 42 countries.
