David Steele, PhD is
the Senior Associate Dean for Medical
Education and Professor of Family and
Community Medicine at Texas Tech University
Health Sciences Center, Paul L. Foster
School of Medicine (PLFSOM) in El Paso
Texas. Prior to joining the faculty of the
PLFSOM, Dr. Steele taught at the University
of Wisconsin School of Medicine, the
University of Nebraska College of Medicine,
and he was a founding faculty member and
administrator at Florida State University
College of Medicine. In his role as Senior
Associate Dean at PLFSOM, Dr. Steele also
directs the Office of Curriculum, Evaluation
and Accreditation which is responsible for
supporting all phases of curriculum
development, student assessment, and program
evaluation for the school of medicine. Dr.
Steele's research and scholarly interests
are in innovation and change in medical
education; physician-patient communication;
curriculum development, program evaluation;
and the humanities, social and behavioral
sciences in medical education. Dr. Steele
earned a PhD in Cultural Anthropology and
Educational Policy Studies from the
University of Wisconsin at Madison, where he
also completed a two year postdoctoral
fellowship in behavioral medicine and health
psychology.
