Description
Faculty
members stress about their productivity and what it
takes to be successful in their institution. Many define
success solely in terms of publications and they are an
important element. However, success as an educator may
be related not only to research, but also to curriculum
development, assessment, mentoring/advising and
administration. Leadership must be vigilant in providing
opportunities for faculty members to be successful in
all of these roles. For those faculty in leadership,
having a faculty member develop a strategic plan
considering these five roles helps leadership in
planning for individual success. Productivity is always
a challenge and in this session we will describe how a
plan helps and what kinds of structure can help sustain
productivity. Therefore in this session, we will
provide the following:
 | Describe the roles of faculty
who are educators and what is done in each of those
roles that influences an individual strategic plan |
 | Develop the elements of a
personal strategic plan that covers these various
roles. |
 | Identify personal strategies
that can help with productivity and career success. |
 | Identify institutional
strategies that can help with productivity and
career success. |
