Say No to Boring Lectures Whether Live or Online

Presented by Jeanne Schlesinger,
Virginia Commonwealth University

Description

Basically it involves being prepared:  know your audience, your content, yourself; be real and use relevant stories/case studies.  Know what you are going to say and why it matters.

When you’ve done all the hard work ahead of time and are well-prepared, by the time you’re in front of your audience (in person or on PC) you’ll be able to focus most of your energy on interacting with your audience and keeping your talk spontaneous, even though well-planned.  Interesting presentations require communication between presenter and audience.  When you’re anxious about what you’re going to say, it makes it difficult to really listen and interact with your audience.  The ability to spontaneously engage with an audience requires preparation, but preparation alone doesn't ensure success.

This session will focus on the preparatory steps and the delivery techniques that will help you say no to boring lectures!
