Dr. Thomas Angelo, University Teaching Development Center,
Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand

 


    
 
Dr. Thomas A. Angelo is Professor of higher education and Director of the University Teaching Development Centre (UTDC) at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. The UTDC’s ten staff are responsible for teaching and course development and evaluation, new faculty orientation and mentoring, distance and flexible learning support, and other related activities.

Prior to 2004, Angelo had held positions as faculty member, faculty developer, academic administrator and/or researcher at the University of Akron, DePaul University, Miami University, the American Association for Higher Education (AAHE), Boston College, CSU Long Beach, The University of California at Berkeley, and Harvard University. 

His publications include Classroom Assessment Techniques: A Handbook for College Teachers (with K. Patricia Cross, 1993), and more than thirty articles and chapters.

Angelo has consulted on teaching, assessment and feedback, and learning improvement at more than 200 colleges and universities and given keynote speeches at more than 75 higher education conferences in 16 countries and 49 of the 50 United States.

Tom Angelo earned his BA, with honors, in government from CSU Sacramento, an MA in political science and a second master’s in education from Boston University, and his doctorate from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.
