Description
Student portfolios
are generally considered an ideal way for students to work
on self-directed learning projects and present evidence
via “reflections” in the portfolio. Online electronic
portfolios (e-Portfolios) offer new capabilities for
portfolios, such as providing students with a common
organization for materials, built-in prompts to encourage
reflections on materials, and easier communication between
advisors and students. While E-Portfolios are clearly an
important component of a learner-centered curriculum,
implementing them has proven to be difficult.
In this webcast audio seminar, Mr. Tobin will discuss
electronic portfolios and how they can be used in medical
education. Learning Objectives include:
-
identify common goals of e-Portfolios
-
describe and compare features in some
specific e-Portfolio tools
-
learn from recommendations and pitfalls from
other schools’ previous e-Portfolio projects
-
develop a plan for evaluating the
successfulness of an e-Portfolio pilot project
