As educators, we focus significant
effort and attention on our teaching. In the Spring Webcast
Audio Seminar Series, Learner Centered Education, we
will be focusing our attention instead on the other half of
the education equation. In this Seminar Series, Dr. Norman
will explore learning theory and its implications for our
teaching. Dr. Curry will help us distinguish between
learning style, cognitive style and instructional
preferences and help us identify areas in our teaching where
this information can be applied. Dr. Robins will discuss the
methods that we can use to address the environment that
learning occurs in and Dr. Chauvin will share her
perspectives on student academic support and counseling as
it is informed by learner issues.
In addition to the application of theory, participants in
the Spring Series will hear about learner-centered tools as
Dr. Dannefer shares her experience with learning portfolios
as an assessment tool and Dr. Pelley explains concept
mapping and its role in active learning.
