Innovation and Technology in the Learning
Environment
|
| Education, and
specifically healthcare-related education, has taken quantum
leaps in the past several years with the introduction of new
technologies to augment direct teacher-learner contact. Many
schools have laptop or PDA programs well integrated into
their teaching environment. What we find is that technology
affords opportunities, and may even require, that we
approach learning in new ways. In this 6-part seminar
series, we will focus on the whole learning environment and
how we incorporate new tools into teaching. Cathy Solow and
Julie Payne will discuss learning communities and how
educational facilities can be designed to facilitate them.
Dr. James Johnson will outline how the anatomy lab of the 21st
century can incorporate technology and interdisciplinary
approaches to drive student-centered learning. Dr. Malcolm
Brown will share his extensive experience in design of
learning spaces to match learning styles and goals. Dr.
Michael Seropian will talk about ways institutions can share
expensive simulator resources to multiply teaching
potential. Dr. Brian Tobin will discuss the benefits and
logistics of developing ePortfolios by students, and finally
Dr. Joe Henderson will outline his experience with the
Virtual Practicum project. |
