Lynne Robins, Ph.D.
Associate Professor

School of Medicine

    

Lynne Robins, Ph.D. is Associate Professor, Department of Medical Education and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Director of the Teaching Scholars Program. She holds adjunct appointments in the departments of Family Medicine, Health Services, and Pediatric Dentistry. She received a PhD in anthropology from the University of Michigan, having completed thesis work on physician-patient communication. After having taught anthropology and linguistics in Chicago and Washington,D.C., she returned to the University of Michigan Medical School to take the position of Director of Curriculum Evaluation. From 1992 – 1999, she oversaw the operations of the school’s first centralized curriculum evaluation program and conducted research into a variety of areas, including the effects of the school’s newly implemented curriculum on student perceptions of the learning environment. On moving to the University of Washington School of Medicine, Dr. Robins has pursued externally funded research in the areas of interprofessional collaboration and competence, patient safety, and communication. She is currently PI on an AHRQ grant to study the effects of collaborative agenda setting on patient health outcomes and an Innovations Fund award to develop a certifying exam for all health professions students related to performance in interprofessional teams.
