Dr. DaRosa is a Professor of Surgery
and Medical Education at Northwestern
University Medical School. She has been
a medical education specialist since 1980
with primary research interests in curriculum
design, faculty development, and performance
evaluation. Dr. DaRosa has published
numerous book chapters, research papers, and
editorials in these areas, and has presented
her research and faculty development programs
at national and international forums.
In 1990 she earned the distinction of being
the only nonclinician elected President of
the Association for Surgical Education (ASE),
an organization comprised of over 700
academic surgeons from North American medical
schools. This same organization awarded
her the LifeTime Achievement Distinguished
Educator Award in 2001. Dr. DaRosa
serves on the editorial boards of both
surgery and medical education journals, is a
National Faculty Member of the American
College of Surgeons’ Advanced Trauma Life
Support (ATLS) program and the Course
Director of their six-day Surgeons As
Educators course. In her spare time,
Dr. DaRosa enjoys the three R’s, that is
Rollerblading, Running, and Rock and Roll.
