Carol Kamin, M.S., Ed.D. is an Associate
Professor and Director of Medical Education
Development and Research in the Department
of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado
School of Medicine. She received her
Master of Science in Health Care
Administration from Trinity University and
her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction
with a specialization in Instructional
Technology from the University of Houston.
Dr. Kamin is also the director of the
Project L.I.V.E. Consortium and has been the
PI of two grants to support Project L.I.V.E.
from the Fund for the Improvement of
Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE), a division
of the US Department of Education. Dr.
Kamin won the school teaching award in 1996
for her curriculum design of the pediatric
clerkship. She currently teaches in
the Communications Curriculum and is on the
steering committee for the Arts in Medicine
curriculum. She also chairs the
Learning Technologies Committee for the
School of Medicine.
While at UTMD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr.
Kamin was the project manager, co-PI and
instructional designer of Project
S.A.F.E.T.Y. which won the Health Sciences
Communications Association (HeSCA)
International Best of Show Award in 1992.
Dr. Kamin has served as a grant reviewer for
HRSA, NLM and FIPSE. She also serves
as the secretary and newsletter editor of
Division I, Education in the Professions, a
division of the Educational Research
Association. Her research interests
include aspects of problem-based learning,
specifically case design and the use of
media, and the integration of technology
into medical education.
