Valeri Craigle, B.S., M.L.S.
(candidate) is an adjunct librarian and
project coordinator for the Neuro-ophthalmology
Virtual Education Library (NOVEL) project at
the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences
Library at the University of Utah. Ms.
Craigle is a multimedia/Web designer and
instructor and has developed numerous
medical animations for health sciences
faculty, including a series of interactive
quizzes on the neuronal pathways in
neuroanatomy, the animated derivation of the
ECG, and an animation that instructs nurse
midwifery students on the technique of tying
surgical knots during the repair of perineal
lacerations. She teaches courses on
Flash animation, Web design, and handheld
technology.
After earning a bachelors degree from the
University of Utah in anthropology, Ms.
Craigle worked for a time as a forensic
anthropologist before coming to the Eccles
library. Her background in the
physical sciences and new opportunities to
develop Web technology at the library led to
her involvement with the Knowledge Weavers
team, a multimedia development project
funded by the National Library of Medicine.
While on the KW project, Ms. Craigle
designed numerous educational Websites and
was involved in the research and development
of Web-based interactive cases and content
development tools for health sciences
faculty. Currently, she is pursuing a
master of library science degree from
Emporia State University.
