C3 - Qualitative/Quantitative Research Methods in Medical Education

Description:

The purpose of this course is to help medical science educators to use qualitative and quantitative methods appropriately and effectively in educational planning, evaluation and research.

Participants will:

Describe the appropriate uses of common qualitative and quantitative methods in educational planning, evaluation and research
Analyze qualitative data, such as the results of open-ended questions in surveys, interviews, focus groups, and observational field notes
Design effective structured survey questions
Identify resources for refining their skills in the use of qualitative and quantitative methods for educational planning, evaluation and research
