
WEB-BASED LEARNING FOR MIDWIFERY AND NURSING

The Word Wide Web, a rich education resource that can promote and
enhance student learning, is increasingly being used in nursing and
midwifery programs to deliver course content.The demand for online courses
is greatly increasing across all levels of the curriculum in higher
education. Development and implementation of online courses with the
quality of education nursing and midwifery students experience in
traditional classroom settings, is essential to maintaining integrity of
the educational process. Three important elements necessary for success of
online asy-nchronous courses.These elements are used as a template for the
development and implementation of online course.Teaching a web-based
course is a new experience for many faculty and requires a
reconceptualization of the faculty role.Within Iran , the incorporation of
information technology as a core subject in nursing and midwifery
education is still relatively new. This article describes how one
university used ‘online’learning to expose students to conceptual and
experiential opportunities that enabled them to develop skills in the
management of information technology.
