ASSURING QUALITY IN A MEDICAL SCHOOL CURRICULUM

This presentation is designed to provide a conceptual framework for implementing a program of quality improvement in a medical school.  The presentation will provide participants with a practical approach to process improvement that has broad based faculty support.  Session participants will be able to:  discuss how quality improvement can support internal and external reporting and accreditation requirements; identify strategies that help engage faculty in QI efforts; develop a plan that incorporates the work of existing faculty committees, and describe how a cooperative effort results in positive outcomes. The session will begin at the beginning and will include information about the medical schools decision to develop a department of academic quality. It will include a detailed description of the investments made early in the process to move the agenda for change forward, and will ultimately provide advise n lessons learned.
