2005 Faculty Development Courses

As a regular feature of the IAMSE Annual Association Meeting, we are pleased to offer registrants a choice of day-long Faculty Development Courses.  Topics available this year are:

C1 - Becoming an Effective Course Director
Dr. Bruce Newton, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
Dr. Robert Klein, University of Kansas School of Medicine

C2 - Writing Effective Multiple Choice Questions
Dr. Dave Swanson and Ms. Kathy Z. Holtzman, NBME

C3 - Qualitative/Quantitative Research Methods in Medical Education
Dr. Ilene Harris, University of Illinois - Chicago School of Medicine

This course can be used towards the AAMC MERC Certification.  Please visit the AAMC website for more information at www.aamc.org

C4 - Helping the Learner to Learn in the Medical School Classroom - CLOSED
Dr. Harold Modell, Physiology Educational Research

C5 - Intermediate and Advanced PowerPoint Presentations
Dr. John Szarek, Ross University

These five concurrent courses will be offered on Saturday July 17, 2005 from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm.  One hour will be allowed for lunch on your own.  Each course will be limited to the first 30 registrants to ensure individualized attention from our highly qualified instructors.

There will be a separate registration fee of $70 USD which covers tuition and course materials.  Courses are concurrent, so you may only register for one.  However, we do ask that you include an alternate choice in case your first selection has already reached capacity.  Mark your selections on the meeting registration form.

To reserve your place in one of these courses, we must receive your paid registration form for this year's Annual Association Meeting.  These courses have a history of rapidly filling to capacity, so plan now and register early for the complete IAMSE Annual Association Meeting.
