Developing Effective Web-Based Teaching

Description
The purpose of this course is to provide hands on experience in how
to use technology to enhance Web-based learning in the health sciences.
It is designed for those with prior experience using the World Wide Web
for instructional purposes. Participants will use their own materials
to create a personal action plan.
Participants will:

review theories of effective teaching and design
for the Web and look at on-line examples |

examine resources available for Web development
and delivery |
 |
experiment with software tools for Web development
and image manipulation |
 |
examine the evaluation process, review online assessment
tools, and experiment with Web course critiques |

Instructor
Peter G. Anderson, D.V.M., Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Pathology
Dr. Anderson is Director of Pathology Undergraduate Education at the
University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, and directs an
Education Instructional Resource ( http://peir.net
), containing over 40,000 images and instructional materials. A member
of the Group for Research in Pathology Education (GRIPE), he has played
an active role in developing Web-based instructional technologies for pathology
education. |
