W1 Digital Photography for Medical Educators

Photography is a way to show others at a glance a new perspective. Whether it’s for an educational purpose, for documentation, or just something beautiful to hang on your wall, a well-executed photograph takes planning and practice.

OBJECTIVES:

Attendees at this workshop will have expert guidance learning how to better use your basic digital camera or a digital SLR to take great photographs. Special emphasis will be placed on:

-    good exposure (aperture, shutter speed, film speed)

-    basic controls of your camera

-    different recommended models of cameras

-    how to plan a shoot

-    documentary photographs and indoor shooting

-    building a collection

-    release forms

-    tips and tricks

OVERVIEW:

This workshop will start with a 3-hour introduction the first day, and then continue with a check-in every evening throughout the conference. Attendees will learn and practice how to use their cameras more effectively by documenting and reflecting on their own photographs of conference activities.

PREREQUISITE SKILLS:

BRING a digital camera that you’re familiar with or follow along with someone who has one
