R4 - Education Competencies: Use in Basic Science Courses

Dr. Regina Kreisle, Indiana University School of Medicine – Lafayette

As more and more medical schools are looking to incorporate general medical competencies into the undergraduate curriculum, more faculty are being asked to consider how and where these competencies fit into basic science courses.  This resource exchange will provide an opportunity for faculty struggling with these issues to explore different approaches to defining, incorporating, and assessing general medical competencies in discipline-based basic science courses.  We hope to exchange documents describing specific examples of how competencies have been incorporated, as well as answer questions from those considering the integration of competencies (or even defining them) using the collected experience of the attendees.  Pre-registered participants with experience in this area will be asked to submit documents for exchange.
