Into the Sandbox with Team-Based Learning

Team-Based Learning (TBL) is an excellent educational strategy for medical education because it transforms large classes into learning teams without expanding faculty resources, and it requires learners to apply knowledge rather than ‘cover content.’ Student academic achievement with TBL appears to be equal or better than standard lecture format. However, the greatest strength of the strategy may be that it helps students develop the important professional competencies of communication, interpersonal skills, giving and receiving feedback from peers, and teamwork skills.
