Michael Grimm is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Clinical Associate Dean at the St George Clinical School of the University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia.  He has a long history of involvement in medical student and junior medical graduate education.  Whilst undertaking his research PhD he was Director of Clinical Training at the Canberra Hospital.  Since his appointment to the University of New South Wales he has been director of year 6 teaching at St George Clinical School, remains involved in junior medical officer education and actively participates in basic and specialist registrar training in gastroenterology.  He became extensively involved in development and implementation of a novel curriculum in medicine at UNSW and is currently Director of Phase 2 of that curriculum and a member of the Program Evaluation and Improvement Group and the Curriculum Development Committee.

Associate Professor Grimm is a practising gastroenterologist.  He is currently treasurer of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia and is part of a group redeveloping the curriculum in Australian gastroenterology specialist training.  In addition he runs a research program in the immunopathogenesis of intestinal inflammation which includes past and current PhD students.  He is Presiding Member of the UNSW Human Research Ethics Committee.
