P5 - External Forces Driving Health Science Education Internationally

Dr. Charles Hitchock, Ohio State University

The session's participants will be given a series of questions dealing with various external factors impacting health science education here and abroad.  Each question will be answered from each participant's point of view; be it that of the LCME, NBME, MSPE, ACGME/IOM, veterinary education, or international.  Questions to be addressed will examine moving outside of the "Flexnerian model" of education, marketplace forces, what external forces can and cannot be controlled; improving communication down to the level of the individual faculty member, and who should be meeting the impact of the external forces at the institutional level.  Questions will also be elicited from meeting participants."
